ABSTRACT

A 40-year-old man visited our hospital for abnormal chest shadow. He had neither a cough nor a fever. In computed tomography, the mass containing swollen mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes en block was along the bronchus intermedius. A positron-emission tomography scan demonstrated abnormal accumulation in the same lesion. Upon an endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration, pus was aspirated from the lesion. Haemophilus influenzae was cultured from the pus, and lymphadenitis caused by H. influenzae was diagnosed.
