ABSTRACT

We presented a rare case of lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma of lung in a 73-year-old Japanese woman. At first, the small nodules were near the pulmonary artery in the bilateral lobes. The size of nodules became rapidly larger within 2 weeks, and respiratory failure advanced. In Elastica van Gieson-stained histological cross-sections of the tumor, large neoplastic cells with abundant cytoplasm were seen not only around the pulmonary artery, but also in intravascular space. Tumor cells had several immunohistochemical stainings for CD3 negative, CD20 negative, AE1/AE3 positive, and EBER-1 positive. About 90% of tumor cells were positive by immunohistochemical staining for MIB-1. These pathological features indicate that this case presented a poor prognosis.
