ABSTRACT

A 26-year-old healthy man was referred to our hospital because of hemosputum and right abnormal shadow on his chest X-ray. His serum inflammatory reaction and Quantiferon® TB-3G (QFT) were negative. Also, mycobacterium was not detected in the smear of his sputum and gastric juice. Pulmonary parasite infection was considered as one of his differential diagnoses because a chest CT revealed linear shadow in the subfissural right upper lobe, and he was a cook by occupation. Paragonimus westermani eggs were found in his sputum. After administration of praziquantel, his respiratory symptoms and abnormal shadow were improved.
