ABSTRACT

A 60-year-old man with a previous history of complete resection of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) from his left forearm at 49 years of age underwent partial resection of the left upper pulmonary lobe for multiple pulmonary tumors. He was diagnosed with pulmonary metastasis of DFSP. Imatinib mesylate is reportedly effective for DFSP by inhibition of the platelet-derived growth factor receptor. In this case, we treated the pulmonary metastasis of DFSP with imatinib mesylate, and the pulmonary lesion subsequently decreased in size. We herein describe a rare case of pulmonary metastasis of DFSP treated with imatinib mesylate in a Japanese patient.
