Background. There are some reports that leiomyoma has certain potential of metastasizing to the lung and lymph nodes although it is benign disease. We report a case of multiple pulmonary nodules of benign metastasizing leiomyoma after histerectomy. Case. A 50-year-old woman was referred because of multiple pulumonary nodules in February 2000. She had undergone hyeterectomy 12 years previously for myoma uteri. A chest X-ray film obtained on admission revealed multiple abnormal shadows in bilateral lung fields. Her abdominal CT revealed a large mass in the pelvic cavity which was resected and was diagnosed pathologically as benign leiomyoma. We then resected one of the lung nodules in S9 for diagnosis. The resected lung nodule revealed similar histological findings to the previous uterine leiomyoma and recurrent pelvic leiomyoma. We diagnosed the case as benign metastasizing leiomyoma. Conclusion. We concluded that resection of the nodules was the most effective method of treatment.
