Background. Myoepithelial tumors commonly occur in the salivary glands or the mammary glands, but myoepithelial carcinoma of the lung is extremely rare. Case. A 62-year-old man with persistent asthmatic symptoms was referred to our hospital because a tumor in his right lung was found, on a chest computed tomography (CT). Fiberoptic bronchoscopy revealed a polypoid tumor in the right main bronchus, and a biopsy showed malignancy. A bilobectomy of the right middle and right lower lobes was performed. Histological examination of the tumor revealed a variety of sarcomatous patterns, and immunohistochemically the tumor cells expressed both epithelial and myoepithelial markers. These findings led to a diagnosis of myoepithelial carcinoma of the lung. Conclusion. We encountered a rare case of myoepithelial carcinoma of the lung.
