New Era of Bronchoscopy: Diagnosing Lung Cancer for Precision Medicine
Takashi Niwa11Department of Respiratory Medicine, Kanagawa Cardiovascular and Respiratory Center, Japan
In recent years, the need for high-quality and high-quantity bronchoscopic tissue sampling in order to select the ideal therapeutic strategy has increased. Therefore, the optimum methods of endobronchial ultrasonography with a guide sheath and endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration should be re-evaluated to improve the accuracy and acquire more and better-quality tissue samples. A transbronchial lung cryobiopsy is a promising method of increasing the diagnostic yield with bronchoscopy. This review highlights how to maximize the diagnostic yield of bronchoscopy and what kind of devices are expected to enter the market in the near future.
