Cryobiopsy in Medical Practice Related to Lung Cancer

Respiratory endoscopy is important for various aspects medical practice related to lung cancer, including the pathological diagnosis, the analysis of biomarkers, genetic panel tests using next generation sequencing, and the differential diagnosis of drug-induced lung disease and malignant airway stenosis. The importance of biopsy sample quality is increasing with progress of lung cancer therapies. Cryobiopsy is widely-used in the diagnosis of interstitial lung disease in Europe and the US, and it has been shown to be effective in the diagnosis of lung cancer because it can collect a large sample while causing little tissue damage. In this report, we review the usefulness and points from experience at our hospital and evidence to support the performance of cryobiopsy by medical professionals who provide lung cancer treatment.
