Abstract |
Detection of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria is one of the important missions in clinical microbiological laboratories. Such information is important for antimicrobial stewardship and infection control in the treatment of infectious diseases. In many cases, the results of antimicrobial susceptibility testing alone may be sufficient. However, it may be difficult to detect the resistance mechanism of some microorganisms only by performing an antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Phenotyping tests and genotyping tests are useful testing methods to elucidate such resistance mechanisms. This article introduces phenotypic tests that should be prepared as a clinical microbiological laboratory so that they can be performed when needed. |
