Abstract |
Neisseria meningitidis bacteremia cause DIC and pupura fulminans, which account for poor prognosis. A-24-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital complaining of fever, and pain with purpura of her limbs. Gram-negative cocci was recovered from the blood culture on admission, which was indentified as serogroup C N. meningitidis with reduced susceptibility to penicillin. After intensive care, she recoverd but lost bilateral lower legs and bilateral 3-5th fingers. Decrease of serum level of protein C might cause purpura fulminans. |
