Abstract |
MicroScan Rapid plus series is a 2.5-h identification and rapid susceptibility test system. Its accuracy was evaluated by using 173 clinical isolates encompassing 13genera and 24 species. The results of rapid series were compared with MicroScan Dried Overnight panel that was a conventional method. Both series panels were tested by MicroScan WalkAway 96 SI. The agreement rate of identifications were as follows: Enterobacteriaceae (n=56), 98%; glucose non-fermenting gram-negative rod (n=65), 86%; Staphylococcus aureus (n=22), 100%; Staphylococcus sp. other than S. aureus (n=13), 54%; Enterococcus sp. (n=17), 53%. The agreement rate of interpretive criteria for susceptibility test was indicated 80% or higher. The output time of interpretive criteria for susceptibility test was 4.5-h at the maximum time in which case of Enterobacteriaceae. It appears that the rapid series is a reliable system for rapid identification and susceptibility test. |
