Abstract |
Listeria innocua is widespread in various food environments, and this bacteria is considered to be a non-pathogenic to healthy humans. To date, there are several reports of fatal infectious diseases of this bacteria in abroad, and there are few reports in Japan. A 69-year-old woman diagnosed with a Mantle Cell Lymphoma, it was remission by chemotherapy. However, the patient has neutropenia by treatment side effects. She was admitted to our hospital with a high fever and diarrhea, so one blood culture was taken, and empirical antibiotic therapy with Meropenem for febrile neutropenia was initiated. Blood culture became positive in hospitalization third day and identified Listeria innocua in forth day. This bacteria detection, add the Vancomycin and Ciprofloxacin in antimicrobial therapy, the patient was cured and discharged from the hospital in two weeks. The reason that did not change the antimicrobial therapy to Ampicillin and aminoglycoside, clinical efficacy had been observed the current treatment, there is no standard treatment of L. innocua, there is no cure case reports of this bacteria. |
