Abstract |
VITEK MS (bioMérieux) was purchased by our hospital in June 2013. This system was installed in the microbial laboratory for clinical support, based on the importance of rapid microbial identification using matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). Prep Station software was installed in the terminal in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to combine the function of Myla and VITEK2 Remote Viewer. Operators can simultaneously register specimens and card information used in VITEK MS and VITEK2. Results from VITEK MS and VITEK2 can be confirmed using Myla and VITEK2 Remote Viewer and sent to the LIS, allowing effective operation. For clinical support, results of antibiograms for isolated microorganisms can be displayed, and this is useful for selection of an antimicrobial agent. This system allows effective operation of the VITEK MS and facilitates effective clinical support. |
