Abstract |
This article reviews the studies investigating variability in speech production in individuals with apraxia of speech. Although the variability in speech production has been thought to the characteristics of apraxia of speech, study outcomes are diverse. The factors contributing to the diversity are the criteria the authors used to select participants, the methods employed to elicit speech samples, the speech units considered, the way speech errors were analized, and the way error variability was measured and calculated. Furthermore, the way in which the individuals with apraxia of speech react to their speech disabilities might influence the variability of speech production. |
