Abstract We report a case of eyeglass-wearing disorder after right hemisphere brain damage - in a right-handed man in his early 40s with right thalamic hemorrhage and right parietal cerebral infarction. The case had left-hemiplegia, sensory disorder, left unilateral spatial neglect, visual extinction phenomenon, etc.
The eyeglass-wearing disorder was an error of wearing the glass that could not fit the left ear and temple. The following results were obtained based on the evaluation of eyeglass-wearing disorder. The case could identify parts of eyeglasses and body, wear eyeglass to other, wear eyeglass with the help of a mirror, wear the eyeglass on the unilateral chisel temple, etc. However, when the left temple hit his face, he noticed a spatial-positional error and could wear it after multiple revision.
We thought that his eyeglass-wearing disorder appeared specific to the left side. The factors included lack of cognition ability to a spatial position of temple-ear due to inability to use visual information and having been demanded in the movement to fit the ear with the temple at both right and left sides at the same time.
Keywords eyeglass-wearing disorder, higher brain dysfunction, wear-action, right hemisphere brain damage, unilateral spatial neglect
