Abstract This paper describes the significance of case reports and the reasons why clinicians should work on them. An appropriate case report provides a working hypothesis for the polythetic approach in clinical practice. Atypical patients are often difficult to apply established neuropsychological syndromes. We can execute a polythetic approach to such patients by finding similar case reports and using them as working hypotheses. Clinicians should write case reports of atypical patients because they have educational effects on improving the skills of polythetic approach. Submitting a case report for peer review is a necessary experience to become a high-level clinician.
