Abstract |
This article describes visual hallucinations and visual illusions in Parkinson's disease (PD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). The results of a questionnaire survey conducted by the authors with PD patients suggested that the same visual hallucinations often appear in the same place, and that there are also multimodal hallucinations. It was also suggested that visual illusions have a higher prevalence than visual hallucinations, and that a wide variety of simple illusions occur. I also explained the findings regarding gaze positions and utterances when DLB patients have visual hallucinations, as well as gaze positions, utterances, and pupillary responses when performing the landscape pareidolia test. We believe that these studies demonstrate the importance of the classic neuropsychological methods of observing behavior and listening to what people say. |
