Abstract |
Occupational therapists, who are rehabilitation professionals, assist people who have difficulty with activities of daily living. Accurate assessment and interpretation of the symptoms are needed to provide appropriate intervention and support to them. However, occupational therapists working for those with cognitive dysfunction, often encounter difficulties in this process because the dysfunction contains a wide variety of symptoms. In this article, I gave my opinion on why providing occupational therapy to those with cognitive dysfunction is difficult. In addition, I described my personal views on the significance and benefits of occupational therapists obtaining the certificate of clinical neuropsychologists, the situations in which this certificate is useful, and what the future holds for this certificate system. |
