| Abstract |
The national dementia supporter facilitation course was begun in June 2005 at the national level to 'properly understand dementia', in order to enable the early detection and treatment of dementia. The course was designed to make it easy to understand the symptoms of dementia from a neuropsychological perspective. Currently, the number of dementia supporters has exceeded 1.7 million nationwide, showing the progress of the 'soft' aspects of urban development to ensure the comfort of those with dementia. However, considerations of the 'hard' aspects-the design of spaces that are safe and easy for those with dementia to navigate on their own-have not been sufficient. In this study, we walked and drove with people suffering with dementia, and used eye mark recorders, to undertake a neuropsychological consideration. |
