Abstract |
Two experiments on word form deafness are newly reported. I have studied the positions of these cases in the word retrieval and auditory comprehension processes, along with the results of my previous experiments on selective impairment in the phonological processing.
The activation of the phonological lexicon and the following phonological encoding in the word retrieval process are described in detail. Also, it is discussed that, in the auditory comprehension process, phonological words go through parallel and hierarchical processing. Each phase of word retrieval and auditory comprehension interacts with phonological processing. This study of my experiment cases suggests that cognitive-neuropsychological viewpoint is indispensable to analyze their dynamic relations. |
