Abstract In the two visual pathways, it has been known that dorsal visual stream directing to the parietal cortex is related to spatial visual perception. However, parietal cortex is not the terminal station of the dorsal visual stream. The parietal cortex has strong mutual anatomical connection with the premotor cortex. The spatial information is sent to the premotor cortex, and then its final goal is visuo-motor control. This network is concerned to integration of efference copy (corallary discharge) and sensory feedback that is an essential factor both for sensory motor control and body schema. Recently it is claimed that this prieto-premotor network is not only concerned to motor control, but also to body awareness and social cognitive function. This implies that the hand is not just only an effecter, but a very strong link between mental process and the body.
