Abstract |
Disappearance or reduction of physiological illusion and appearance of pathological illusion are reviewed in the present study, with case reports. Physiological illusion such as geometrical illusions and subjective contours can disappear or reduce in patients with visual variant of Alzheimer's disease. Pathological illusion such as palinopsia, monocular diplopia, metamorphopsia, micropsia can appear after focal brain lesions. We can evoke pareidolias in patients with dementia with Lewy bodies using a simple task. |
