Abstract |
Delusion of theft is one of the most common content of delusion occurring in demented person. Patients with the delusion claim that their caregiver stole their belongings such as purse, key or bankbook. This delusion yields distress to patients and to caregiver, and increases burden of care. Many studies using voxel based image analysis found regions of brain relevant to delusion, but results were still inconsistent. Dysfunction of frontal region or right cerebral hemisphere may be relevant to occurring delusions. The reason why delusional interpretation occurs was still unclear. Psychosocial and environment aspects as well as biological aspects such as cortical dysfunction may be important to consider when to exploring delusions of theft. |
