Abstract |
To date, neuroscience was developed based on the theory of brain function localization. However, white matter disconnections can cause symptoms and different cortical lesions can also lead to similar symptom. These findings indicate the importance of understanding cognitive function in terms of a neural network. Presently, we can identify cortical lesions based on lesion and functional MRI studies. In addition, we can assess structural and functional connectivity between cortical lesions using diffusion MRI and functional MRI, respectively. I also summarized the default mode network, attention network, salience network including the insula and the white matter beneath the insula. |
