Abstract Neuropsychology studies the relation between brain and human cognitive/behavioral function, which overlaps with neurological medicine and neuroscience.
Neuropsychological investigation in clinical practice can provide us with brain-behavior relationships that will lead to early diagnosis and rehabilitation. Personalized medicine is especially important for treatment of neurological disorders, which would cause variety of cognitive and behavioral symptoms based on the lesion location and premorbid abilities. Neuropsychology along with the sophisticated techniques and methodology of neuroscience allows a more detailed analysis of human cognitive functions and their neuronal bases than was previously possible. The twofold nature of neuropsychology means that we may be in a position to further our knowledge of the nature of the human cognitive and behavioral processes themselves, provided individual differences in brain-behavior relationships are properly recognized.
Keywords neuropsychology, neuroscience, rehabilitation, neuroimaging, individual differences
