Abstract |
The title of the paper underlines the fact that E of MMSE represents examination. MMSE is the global standard of bedside mental state, or cognitive, examination. Therefore, clinicians should administer MMSE by themselves. A score of MMSE administered according to the standardized manual has, in itself, little clinical significance, except the manual is designated in a clinical trial. Each clinician should establish his or her own MMSE after various modification, in the same way as many clinical skills are established after taking in the techniques of his or her supervisors. In this paper, I introduce my optional tasks for MMSE to evaluate disturbances of attention and recent memory, and present the studies for validities of the tasks. |
