Abstract Regarding temporal lobe, it takes specific roles of auditory processing, semantic processing and memory processing, and also implicates recognition of auditory information and visual information from occipital lobes. The right temporal lobe recognizes enviromental sounds and the left temporal lobe recognizes language sounds. In particular, language sound is analyzed by hierarchical processing. Semantics are made of network construction in the temporal lobe. The involvement of the temporal lobe causes Wernicke's aphasia and trascortical sensory aphasia containing impairment of word comprehension and word retrieval. The posterior part of the inferior temporal gyrus impairment develops Kanji (morphogram) impairment. The medial temporal lobes are implicated in memory function, especially episodic memory.
