Abstract |
It is sometimes quiet challenging to verify whether an episodic memory is true of false. To approach this issue, changeability of episodic memory in functional amnesia, dream, and false memory was presented. In dissociative amnesia, variability of episodic memory retrieval can be observed during the course of recovery. In dream, which phenomenologically resembles dissociative disorder, episodic memories are frequently distorted. Studies on false memory show that episodic memories are often changed into semantically similar contents. Given the changeability of episodic memory in these disorder or situations, episodic memory is considered to be sometimes dynamic, not always a fixed one. |
