Abstract A variety of approaches are being used in neuropsychological rehabilitation, and the great emphasis among them on symptom assessment and training that utilize experimental psychology techniques is a major characteristic of the field.
In this article we present actual cases of experimental assessments (clock drawing, cube copying, pacing, semantic memory, cognition of object orientation) conducted in our ordinary clinical practice in order to investigate the neuropsychological mechanisms of disabilities. We also describe several cases (constructive disorders, amnestic syndromes and awareness) in relation to rehabilitation using behavioral techniques and cognitive techniques. Techniques devised in the experimental psychology area that are used in behavioral modification and cognitive modification are also effective in higher brain dysfunction, and in the future it seems that they will be regarded as standard approaches in neuropsychological rehabilitation.
