Abstract |
In order to invite you to neuropsychology, I talked about my intellectually excited researches. In my case, many of such experiences began when I met with one patient and was surprised some behaviors of the patient. Why is this right hemianopic patient misreading in a horizontal writing sentence, although he showed neither hemispatial neglect nor alexia? We found the symptom of this patient to be called hemianopic dyslexia. This experience led to an fMRI study of reading Japanese sentences and a study of unconscious perception of Japanese letters in parafoveal visual field. Why does this patient who has a lesion on the top of the parietal lobe appeal "Why do I turn to the left when walking"? Examinations of this case revealed that the symptom was due to disordered perception of optic flow. The method used in this case study was applied to the examination of similar disorders of Alzheimer's disease patients. Why this patient of visual variant of Alzheimer's disease cannot read her gold watche? Examinations of this case revealed that the symptom was due to disordered perception of illusory contour. This experience led to a PET study of Parkinson's disease patients. |
