Abstract Agnosia through more than one sensory modality is known as multimodal agnosia. The past cases with multimodal agnosia are visual-tactile agnosia. This syndrome is different from tactile agnosia, and caused by left or bilateral occipitotemporal lesion. The lateral occipital complex may contain object form evoked by different sensory modalities such as vision or touch. Tactile object recognition is thought to be processed by the ventral stream from the parietal lobe to the anterior temporal lobe.
Keywords multimodal agnosia, tactile agnosia, lateral occipital complex
