Abstract |
Alzheimer's disease (AD) with language symptoms like semantic dementia (SD), a left temporal variant of AD, is often difficult to distinguish from semantic dementia (SD), especially in elderly patients. In this study, we clarify the characteristic features of left temporal AD with amyloid positivity, as confirmed by amyloid imaging. Some of language symptoms of our patient with left temporal variant of AD were similar to those of patients with SD. In addition, auditory comprehension of body parts and colors, which is relatively preserved in the early stages of SD, was impaired. As for another characteristic features, our case exhibited stereotypical behaviors and disinhibition like SD. Recent studies have shown that TDP-43 pathology merged with AD affects cognitive function and hippocampal atrophy. Further studies need to clarify whether the TDP-43 pathology merged with AD causes behavioral abnormalities. |
