Abstract |
The visuoperceptual, visuoconstructive, and visuospatial dysfunctions are disproportionately severe and the verbal memory is disproportionately mild in patients with probable DLB compared with those with probable AD. Moreover, both elementary and higher-order visuoperceptual functions are affected in patients with probable DLB as compared with probable AD. The defective visual perception plays a role in development of visual hallucinations, delusional misidentifications, visuoconstructive, and visuospatial disability charcteristic of DLB. These features, which are compatible with neuropathological and neuroimaging findings in DLB, likely reflect the distribution of the pathologic changes in DLB. |
