Abstract |
1) History of classification of aphasia was reviewed.
2) Defects of classical aphasic types were pointed out and modifications were proposed.
3) Usefulness of classical aphasic types in order to localize lesions, especially in the left middle cerebral arterial circulation was stressed.
4) Even though classical aphasic syndromes are still valid as cerebral arterial occlusion syndromes, it is insufficient for the purpose of more precise anatomo-clinial correlation of language function. Individual language function, such as word-finding, comprehension of words , comprehension of syntax should be clarified. |
