Abstract |
We described a case of 79-year-old female with visual agnosia due to brain infarction in the territory of the left posterior cerebral artery. She failed to recognize objects when items were presented not only in the visual modality but also in the both visual and tactile modality, while she was able to recognize the objects by tactile modality alone. Despite the inability to use visually presented objects, she could indentify the application when asked to use without visual process. In the present case, it was suggested that the impairment of visual information might play a major role in failure of object recognition. These results appear to indicate that there may be the dominance of perceptual information over various perceptual stimuli for object recognition. |
