Abstract |
Studying not only the adult brain or damaged brain but also the developing brain of infants is likely to provide a new and deep insight into the important issues about the mechanisms of the brain. Here I will show the functional brain imaging of young infants by means of the near infrared optical topography, which we recently demonstrated. Although the results of the experiments are still preliminary, this is the first step toward answering the basic question such as when and how the functional specialization of the brain occurs during infancy. |
